iPhone 7 Owners, Drilling A Hole Into Your New Smartphone Will Not Reveal A Hidden Headphone Jack

Iphone7.drillingIn what could be the most face-palm-inducing report that you would read today, iPhone 7 owners have been said to be drilling holes into their new smartphones, thinking that doing so will reveal a hidden headphone jack.

iPhone fans have previously expressed their disappointment that the latest model of the Apple smartphone replaced the standard headphone jack with a Lightning port. The desire to get the headphone jack back for the iPhone 7 was probably what drove a YouTube user who goes by the name TechRax to upload a video of him drilling a hole into the smartphone.

The YouTube video, entitled “Secret Hack to Get Headphone Jack on the iPhone 7,” showed Taras Maksimuk, the real name of TechRax, clamping the smartphone in a vise and creating a hole in its underside with a hand drill.

The video, of course, is only a hoax. There is no hidden headphone jack inside the iPhone 7, as a teardown on the smartphone revealed that the spot inside the iPhone 7 is now occupied by a bigger Taptic Engine, which is a component that produces vibrations for the device.

However, it seems that the joke flew over the heads of some iPhone 7 owners. The video, which at the time of writing has already amassed about 10.6 million views, has received a lot of comments on YouTube which claim that they tried the “trick” that was presented, and only ended up destroying their iPhone 7.

While the truth behind these comments could not be confirmed, as it is entirely possible that the users are just riding along with the joke of the video, reading through them could still elicit some face-palms and a few good laughs.

“I did this, but now my phone won’t work? What do I do? I tried charging but it just does not work. Help!” one YouTube user wrote.

“Help! Now my old headphones fit in but the phone doesn’t work anymore!” wrote another one.

“ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I WAITD TILL MY DAD WAS SLEEP THEN I WENT TO THE GARAGE AND GOT HIS DIRLL AND DID THIS ND NOW MY IPHONE WONT NOT EVEN WORK!!!!! YOU ARE SUCH ASCUM BAG WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS IM GOING TO MAEK SURE YOURE UTUBE CHANNEL IS GETS SHUT DOWN,” said one of the users.

There are a lot more comments worth reading, though some could not be published here as they are being laced with profanities. Let us just hope that none of the Jet Black iPhone 7 units were damaged by a user who believed the video, as those units are already hard enough to get as it is.
